The purpose of Crisis Management is to save lives and minimize injury. Advance notification and preparation can be the best defense in times of crisis. The actions recommended are general in nature and should supplement specific instructions issued by local governments. If official instructions (those from governmental agencies) should differ from those given here, the official instructions should be followed.
Whenever an emergency affecting the campus reaches proportions that cannot be handled by routine measures or the emergency of a sudden event, the President or his designee may, at their discretion, issue guidelines that would best meet the need at that time, until proper authorities can ascertain what plan should be implemented. There are General Procedures to follow and a Crisis Management Team is in place to help deal with the crisis in the event of a crisis management situation.
