Welcome to the Ohio Mid-Western College (OMW) website detailing benefits available to veterans and their families.
OMW has the distinct privilege of being recognized as a Military Friendly School for the 2011-2012 school year as reported on www.militaryfriendlyschools.com. This shows the commitment of everyone at OMW toward helping veterans and their families become successful in their educational endeavors.
To this end Ohio Mid-Western College is an approved veterans training facility through the U.S. Veteran's Administration (V.A.). This means that veterans who apply, are accepted, and register for classes may receive their V.A. educational benefits through the Montgomery GI Bill, the Post/911 GI Bill, or Vocational Rehabilitation. There are also some state-level aid programs that may be available to help family members of veterans. Please contact us to discuss what may be available.
You gave your service to defending this country to provide for a future free of tyranny and strife. Allow us to help you with transitioning into a degree program which will benefit you and your family in such a way that will bless you with a bright and fruitful future.
As a military veteran your Active Duty, Reserve, or Coast Guard service may have led to eligibility for you for educational benefits. The U. S. Veterans Administration has several educational benefits in place to aid current and returning Vets with obtaining the education they need to become successful in their civilian pursuits.
One of the Educational Benefits available to veterans is the G.I. Bill. Now known as the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill, veterans may qualify for educational benefits under this newly revised benefit. To determine eligibility you will want to visit their website at www.gibill.va.gov and apply for benefits. The Post-9/11 GI Bill is for individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after September 11, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill. The Post-9/11 GI Bill will become effective for education beginning on or after August 1, 2009.
Another federal educational benefit to Veterans is the Montgomery GI Bill. The Montgomery GI Bill provides up to 36 months of education benefits. This benefit may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training, and correspondence courses. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances. Generally, benefits are payable for 10 years following your release from active duty. For more information visit www.gibill2.va.gov or call 1-888-GI-BILL-1 (1-888-442-4551)
Yet another avenue for educational benefits offered by the Veterans Administration is Vocational Rehabilitation. Vocational Rehabilitation (also known as Voc. Rehab.) is designed to assist veterans with service-connected disabilities with additional benefits to aid them in gaining success for their future. To find out more about this program and to see if you qualify please visit www.vba.va.gov/bln/vre/.
The Veterans Administration also has a program for certain survivors and dependents of military veterans. To see if you may qualify for these educational benefits please visit http://gibill.va.gov/benefits/other_programs/dea.html.
