If you are considering transferring from another college to Ohio Mid-Western College during the academic school year you will need to obtain a Letter of Withdrawal. OMW will need an official letter from the other college detailing your last date of attendance, your date of withdrawal, the gross amount of all financial aid you received for the term at the school, the amount of financial aid sent back to the federal government, and the exact amount of financial aid the other school was able to retain.
If you come to the FAO you will be able to obtain a letter from our office detailing exactly what we need from the other institution.
There is one primary way to retrieve your information for what financial aid you have received from your previous institution if they refuse to provide a Letter of Withdrawal. Your information can be obtained through the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). You may handle this through two means. You may either come to the FAO to ask for a copy of this information or you may go to NSLDS website, www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA, and sign into your account as a student. Let us encourage you to check this website occasionally so you know what money you have borrowed.
If you have ever received any student loans in the past please come to the Financial Aid Office (FAO) and advise the Financial Aid Director of your past loans after you have registered for classes so that they can work with you to have your loans placed under an In-School Deferment. While you are attending an institution of higher education you can have any previous or current student loans (that are not yet paid off) placed under an In-School Deferment so you will not be required to make payments on those loans.
When you come to the FAO please bring with you a copy of a statement (if you have one) from whoever the loan is with—e.g., Sallie Mae, Great Lakes, or Direct Loans. This will ensure that we are able to handle the request properly and in a timely manner.
