It is the policy of Ohio Mid-Western College not to discriminate on the basis of disabilities in its education programs, admissions, activities, or employment practices.
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended, and its implementing regulations provide that no qualified individual with a disability shall, on the basis of disability, be excluded from participation in or denied the benefits of the services, programs, or activities of a public entity.
The Act and regulations also require an entity to “make reasonable modifications in policies, practices, or procedures when the modifications are necessary to avoid discrimination on the basis of disability, unless the public entity can demonstrate that making the modifications would fundamentally alter the nature of the service, program, or activity."
Ohio Mid-Western College will provide access to programs and make reasonable accommodations for the needs of students with disabilities. Students must self-identify by completing a health form prior to enrollment. These students should follow-up by contacting the Dean of Students for an interview to determine their needs before registration. Each student is responsible for identifying his or her needs to each professor the first day of class. If problems arise, he should notify the Dean of Students. Faculty members will be sensitive to the special needs of students with disabilities and will make reasonable accommodations for those students.
